The public will be able to provide input to help shape public transit services for seniors and individuals with disabilities in rural and small communities during and following a virtual workshop next week.

The live virtual workshop from the Texas Department of Transportation will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at txdot.gov by searching Enhanced Mobility 5310.

The workshop is for the Childress and Wichita Falls districts of TxDOT. Those districts include  Archer, Baylor, Briscoe, Childress, Clay, Collingsworth, Cooke, Cottle, Dickens, Donley, Foard, Hall, Hardeman, King, Knox, Montague, Motley, Throckmorton, Wheeler, Wichita, Wilbarger and Young counties.

Members in those counties can provide public input to identify specific transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities in their communities.

“The program provides federal funding for state or local government agencies, private nonprofits and private taxi companies that provide share-ride on-demand service to the general public,” TxDOT states on its website. “It supports the transportation needs of seniors and individuals living with disabilities and helps remove barriers to transportation and expands transportation options.”

Community members can call 1-737-787-8607 to join the meeting via phone and enter the meeting ID number 120136726#.
Community members can provide feedback regarding transit services by Jan. 17, 2025. An online form is available to provide comments along with an online survey.

Comments can also be submitted via voicemail at 800-365-3127, email at ptn_programmgmt@txdot.gov, or by mail at TxDOT, Attn: PTN – 5310 Section, 125 E. 11th St. Austin, TX 78701.
