In an effort to bring awareness and obtain public comments on the Texas Department of Transportation’s commitment to the ADA Accessibility Program and future projects, a virtual event will be held next week.
The meeting will be available virtually from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 30 until midnight Thursday, Aug. 14.
The meeting will be titled “Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) outreach Wichita Falls District.”
“TxDOT’s commitment to the ADA Accessibility Program is to ensure that every program, service, benefit, activity and facility open to the public is fully accessible and usable by people with disabilities in an integrated setting that fosters inclusion and does not discriminate,” the organization said regarding the event. “TxDOT ensures this commitment through the agency’s self-evaluation and transition plan, which includes an action plan on the removal of barriers over time.”
The state organization said at the event there will also be a presentation of projects containing ADA elements that improve the daily lives of individuals with disabilities.
The TxDOT Wichita Falls District includes Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cooke, Montague, Throckmorton, Wichita, Wilbarger and Young counties.
Written comments on the proposed program can be submitted by Thursday, Aug. 14 to TxDOT Wichita Falls District, Attn: ADA Liaison; 1601 Southwest Pkwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302 or by email to monty.brown@txdot.gov, Attention: ADA Liaison.
