The Young County Grand Jury has indicted one Graham man and chose not to indict two others on charges stemming from an August assault with a deadly weapon arrest. Lawrence Zackery Whitlock, 27, was formally indicted Friday, Nov. 4. The grand jury chose not to indict Jordan Paul Gonzales, 33, and Timothy Scott Teadt, 42, who were both arrested in connection with Whitlock.

Whitlock, according to the indictment filed with the 90th Judicial District Clerk’s office, is accused of intentionally, knowingly and recklessly causing bodily injury to Frank Herpeche IV, by striking Herpeche on the head with a baseball bat.

Whitlock has been booked in the Young County Jail since Oct. 2 on the alleged charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. On Oct. 10, the state of Texas was granted an order to hold bond insufficient from a previous charge of engaging in organized criminal activity. Whitlock’s current bond amount for six total charges is $190,000.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Young County Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1, Herpeche reported the assault Friday, Aug. 26 to the Young County Sheriff’s Office. Herpeche reported to YCSO that three men, identified as Whitlock, Teadt and Gonzales, forced open the back door of the residence.

According to the affidavit, Herpeche stated Whitlock struck him with an aluminum baseball bat while Teadt and Gonzales punched and kicked him. According to the report, Herpeche received a strike to the head from the bat which knocked him down, “causing him to ‘glitch’” which Herpeche described as “seeing white."
