A woman was arrested by the Young County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday on S Hwy. 114 for transporting 12 individuals in a van who had paid for transportation across the Mexico border and to different areas within the country.

On Wednesday, June 1, a YCSO deputy pulled over a dark red 2007 Honda Odyssey van for a registration violation in the area of S Hwy. 114 and Willard Road, according to a release from YCSO. While making contact with the driver, Julia Ovalles-Ramirez, the deputy observed a large number of passengers in the vehicle.

An investigation revealed there were 12 passengers in the vehicle driven by Ovalles-Ramriez. The passengers revealed in interviews that they had each paid approximately $9,000 to an individual in Mexico for transportation across the border and to different destinations inside the United States.
