

Young County 4-H students do well in livestock judging
A group of six Young County 4-H members attended contests at Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, Okla. on July 18, and the Oklahoma State University’s Big Three Field Days from July 19-21 in Stillwater, Okla. Local 4-H youth in attendance were Buckley Whitaker, Boomer Whitaker, Amanda Richards, Victoria Richards, Phoebe Rogers and Shanna Gleason. At the Northern Oklahoma College contest, the senior team was third overall out of 15 teams, with Victoria Richards receiving the 10th-high individual. At the Oklahoma State University “Big 3” field days, the senior livestock judging team placed 11th out of 34 teams in that division. In the individual competition, Phoebe Rogers was third high individual in sheep, second high individual in cattle and fourth overall in the sweepstakes competition. The OSU Big 3 Animal Science Field days is the world’s largest livestock judging contest, with just short of 1,900 youth involved from multiple states.
