Young County area Toys for Tots pickup tomorrow

Those who applied for toys in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Young County campaign must pick up toys tomorrow at HighRidge Church.

Toys must be picked up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 at HighRidge Church, 1545 4th St., and must be signed for. No toy deliveries will be made. The deadline for requesting toys for children in need during the campaign was Friday, Dec. 13 for residents of Graham, Loving, South Bend and Newcastle. The deadline for requesting toys for children in Olney was Friday, Dec. 6. Toys in Olney must have been picked up at the fire station, 100 E. Hamilton St., on Friday, Dec. 14.

The North Texas Detachment Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the Young County community.

During the 2018 campaign 3,536 toys were distributed in the Young County community and 1,061 children were supported through the program, according to the Toys for Tots Young County page. Since 1947, the Toys for Tots program has distributed 566 million toys and supported 258 million children.
