The Texas Department of Transportation has awarded Young County $562,350 as part of the County Transportation Infrastructure Fund Grant Program. An estimated $250 million was awarded in total to counties throughout the state.

Under the grant program, TxDOT will reimburse Young County $8 for every $10 spent on county road projects submitted to TxDOT in the grant application. These funds are eligible for use for five years.

Each month the county will be required to invoice TxDOT monthly billing statements or a statement that no construction or maintenance work was performed during the previous month. Along with the county’s billing statements, it will be required to submit copies of all paid invoices and/or force account documentation to TxDOT. The state will then reimburse the county within 30 days of receiving invoices and supporting documents.

To get full use of the funds, the county will have to contribute a local matching amount.
