Young County Judge writes legislators about SB 2

On Thursday Feb. 14, Young County Judge John C. Bullock wrote an open letter to District 68 State Representative Drew Springer and District 30 State Senator Pat Fallon about Senate Bill 2.

The bill, known as the property tax growth reform bill, was amended and passed by the Senate Property Tax Committee on Monday, Feb. 11.

“This will be a big step in Texans getting the needed property tax relief that they deserve,” committee chair and Houston Senator Paul Bettencourt said.

Some of the changes to property tax growth include setting a 2.5 percent rollback rate, an automatic trigger for tax ratification rollback elections, changes to transparency and appraisal review boards. An added amendment would also allow entities bringing in less than $15 million in taxes to decide on implementing SB 2.
