Young County local to be inducted to the TRCHF

The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame announced their Class of 2020, among which are the 1969-71 Tarleton State NIRA Women’s Rodeo Teams which features one of Young County’s own, Connie Wilkinson Wood.

The Tarleton State Women’s team accomplished something that had never been done – winning at the national level three years in a row (1969, 1970 and 1971). Wood was a part of the team in 1970, winning in barrel racing at the world and national level.

Wood, of Newcastle, knew she wanted to be involved in rodeo at a higher level.
