After a three-day jury trial last week, a Young County jury found Ryan Lee Daniel, 33, guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child and sentenced him to a life in state prison. The trial was held Wednesday, Jan. 24, in the 90th Judicial District Court with Judge Stephen E. Bristow presiding. Daniel was represented at trial by Wichita Falls attorney Leeann Marsh and the State was represented by the 90th Judicial District Attorney Dee Peavy and Assistant District Attorney Phillip Gregory. Daniel pleaded not guilty to the charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. After opening statements, the state presented witnesses including Jim Reeves, now retired from the Graham Police Department, Texas Ranger Michael Schraub, and Sgt. Kyle Ford, of the Graham Police Department. The victim and members of the victim’s family testified, as did Kayla Voorhees, a forensic interviewer who worked at Virginia’s House at the time of the investigation.
