Jimmie Lee Hance III, 28, of Newcastle, was sentenced by a Young County jury to 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Correctional Institution Division, on April 18.
Hance was found guilty of super-aggravated sexual assault of a child less than six years of age. According to the Texas Penal Code, a super-aggravated assault of a child is a first degree felony in which the minimum term of imprisonment is increased to 25 years if the victim of the offense is younger than six years of age at the time the offense is committed or if the victim of the offense is younger than 14 years of age at the time the offense is committed and the one acting commits the offense within additional factors determined under the penal code.
The sentence followed a five-day trial presided by Young County District Judge Stephen Bristow. Young County District Attorney, Dee Peavy, and Assistant District Attorney, Phillip Gregory represented the state, while Bruce Harris, of Wichita Falls, represented Hance.
