The 16-hour online fundraiser Texoma Gives took place last week with participation from 10 Young County nonprofits which raised over $220,000.
Since 2016, the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation has hosted the online fundraising day Texoma Gives.
Their final event was held Thursday, Sept. 4 benefiting Young County and other area nonprofits.
Participating nonprofits in Young County raised a total of $222,667 and a total of $1,430,865 was raised overall among all participating nonprofits.
A total of 5,740 donations were received from 3,194 donors during the giving day.
“The Community Foundation is grateful for the way the community has supported nonprofits through Texoma Gives,” WFACF said in a release. “We are confident that nonprofits have the tools to successfully fundraise through online giving and support and promote their missions.”
The Olney Christian Community Center, a top fundraiser since the program first began, raised the highest dollar amount overall across all participating organizations with a total of $168,134 raised from 31 donors.
Other participating Young County organizations this year were Graham Crisis Center, Inc., House of Mercy Enterprises, Humane Society of Young County, Keep Olney Beautiful, Olney Community Library and Arts Center, Olney Education Foundation, Olney Volunteer Fire Department, Young County Christian Education Foundation and Young County Olney Senior Cub Center, Inc.
Other organizations which provide services within Young County and were a part of the event were Peyton’s Project, Texas Community Counseling, The Arc of Wichita Falls, P.E.T.S. Clinic, Wichita Falls Area Crime Stoppers, Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Catholic Charities.
Also in the top 10 for the most dollars raised during the event were P.E.T.S. Clinic with $78,154 raised and Wichita Falls Area Food Bank with $26,309 raised.
The early donation period opened online Thursday, Aug. 21 at texomagives.org and will remain open until next year for donations to nonprofits despite the event ending last week.
Nonprofit organizations were required to create and complete a profile online at texomagives.org. The profile includes the name of the organization, description of the nonprofit, organization’s brand or logo, link to the nonprofit website and social media links.
Participating organizations must have been classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and located in the region covered by the organization, with 18 counties in Texas and six in Oklahoma.
Churches are not eligible to participate in the program, but private schools, school foundations and tax-deductible scholarship funds can participate.
Eligible organizations must provide substantial services to the Texoma and immediate surrounding areas.
With the amount raised this year, the event in total has raised over $14 million for participating nonprofits since it started in 2016. KFDX and Texoma’s Fox partnered with the Wichita Falls Community Foundation to continue the giving day in 2026.
