Young County ratifies agreement for KBLY transmitter at YCSO
The Young County Commissioners Court voted to ratify an agreement between Young County and Positive Radio Network, KBLY 100.5 FM, for the use of the radio tower located at the Young County Sheriff’s Office.
The ratification comes one week after the proposal passed with a 4-0 vote. Precinct 2 Commissioner Matt Pruitt abstained from voting due to his involvement with the station.
According to the agreement, Young County will allow the installation of transmitter equipment on the radio tower at the sheriff’s office. This is only allowed to be used if the station is unable to broadcast from the radio studio during a public emergency.
The radio station will incur all expenses for the installation, as well as maintenance and upkeep. All work, as well as the operation of the transmitter, will be reviewed and agreed by the Young County Sheriff and the Young County Commissioners Court. If the station went down due to a non-emergency, the station may use the transmitter with permission from the sheriff.
