GPEF Hall of Honor program gets tentative 2021 date

After opening up nominations for the Graham Public Education Foundation Hall of Honor program in June, the district has announced a tentative date for the postponed event. The event will be held Jan. 29, according to Superintendent Sonny Cruse who made the announcement Wednesday during a Graham ISD board of trustees meeting.

The district had to postpone the event due to COVID-19 from its usual date alongside the Steers football homecoming game. The event will be the fourth since the program was approved by the school board in September 2017.

Election day Tuesday: Young County breaks records for early voting turnout

The early voting turnout exceeded the 50% turnout mark for in-person and ballot by mail Tuesday in Young County and by Thursday had exceeded the 2016 general election turnout for early voting. This election is the third in Young County after COVID-19 restrictions were implemented and slowly loosened locally and statewide following the special election for the Texas Senate District 30 seat which was held late in September.

City planning meeting for lake lot lease holders: City considering sale of properties to leaseholders

The Graham City Council Thursday approved city staff to invite all lake lot leaseholders to an informational meeting to discuss the idea of lake lot lease transfer and ownership. The discussion was brought up in previous council meetings by Graham City Manager Brandon Anderson to move forward with establishing a meeting and plan.

With election day approaching next Tuesday, extended early voting is coming to an end Friday in Young County. This election is the third in Young County after COVID-19 restrictions were implemented and slowly loosened locally and statewide following the special election for the Texas Senate District 30 seat which was held late in September.

FCH acquires Graham Healthcare and Urgent Care

Faith Community Health System, of Jacksboro, recently announced they will be acquiring Graham Healthcare and Urgent Care at 1005 Elm St. in Graham. The physician-owned clinic will transition into a hospital-based facility in a “non-monetary” change of ownership.

According to a press release from FCH, the acquisition deal has been in the works for several months and the move to a rural health clinic will have no implications for patients.

Graham Area United Way makes final push for funding

After kicking off their fundraising efforts in late September, Graham Area United Way is pushing to reach their goal within the next two weeks. As of Tuesday, the organization has raised $63,940 with $36,059 remaining to meet their $100,000 goal set for this campaign.

Graham Area United Way kicked off their fundraising campaign by announcing they had met 46% of their $100,000 goal with $46,553.12 raised. The organization had their second campaign organization meeting Tuesday where it was announced they had reached 64% of their campaign goal.
