The City of Graham will be performing an annual disinfection of their water transmission and distribution system, subject to Texas Center for Environmental Quality requirements on Aug. 1-14.
The test is required by TCEQ to change the city’s water transmission and distribution system to a cleaning process that helps it remain free of any biofilm growth. The switch from disinfecting treated water by use of chloramines, to disinfecting by use of free chlorine online will be executed.
The Library of Graham will be hosting their grand finale for the Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at the North Central Texas College auditorium.
The program which began on May 26, had 187 registered children who read over 4,400 hours during the summer. This was a record number of hours read by children in the program, which has been around since Library Director Sherrie Gibson took her current position in 2000.
The city of Graham saw a rise in sales tax rebates for the second month in a row, compared with the same month last year.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $679.9 million in local sales tax allocations for July, 9 percent more than in July 2016.
These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
“The cities of Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, Midland and Odessa saw noticeable increases in sales tax allocations,” Hegar said.
