Taking the next step: De La Cruz stepping down as CEO of chamber, CVB; chamber seeking applications for position

Six years ago Krisa De La Cruz accepted the position of Graham Chamber of Commerce and Graham Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO, and said as she prepares to leave the position at the end of January the community could not be left in better hands.

De La Cruz submitted her resignation last week which will be effective Monday, Jan. 24. She said the accomplishments and progress the organizations have made would not be possible without the help of the community and the staff at the chamber, CVB and city of Graham.

GRMC announces plans for expanded surgery center

Renovations are on the way at Graham Regional Medical Center. GRMC CEO Shane Kernell outlined a plan to transform the former Women’s Center into the Surgery Center of Graham during a joint meeting with the GRMC Board of Trustees and the hospital’s doctors Dec. 9. The estimated cost is $3.8 million, which Kernell says will be funded without additional taxes or debt.

Chamber, junior high Hot Chocolicious program raises over $8,000 for area nonprofits

Since 2016, the Graham Chamber of Commerce Hot Chocolicious program has raised around $30,000 for area nonprofit organizations. This year was a record fundraising year for the program, with nine area junior high teams from Graham Junior High School and Open Door Christian School Junior High School raising $8,579.47.
