City, county presented pavilion project

As a part of the planning for the 150th year celebration for the city of Graham, members of the city and Graham Chamber of Commerce spoke with the Graham City Council and Young County Commissioners Court regarding a project to create a community pavilion on the downtown square. The pavilion is suggested to sit where the old Graham Area Crisis Center and 1921 Young County Jail building currently rests.

All-American Pageant returns, celebrates 50-year anniversary of the local fundraising event

A local tradition returns to Graham and celebrates its 50th anniversary next Friday and Saturday as the All-American Girl Pageant is at Graham Memorial Auditorium following a one-year absence. The event allows area high school students to showcase their talents to the community and serves as a fundraiser for the Graham High School Thespian Society and GHS Theatre Department for scholarships. 

Annual Pigskin Weekend cornhole tournament takes off next weekend

The third annual Pigskin Weekend cornhole tournament, which brings teams of competitors from around the state, will change from its traditional location on the downtown square to the Young County Arena this year. This year marks the first year the event will change from being run by the Graham Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Vehicle pursuit ends in Archer County with GPD, YCSO, ACSO, DPS

A vehicle pursuit Friday started in Graham and ended in Archer County with four law enforcement agencies involved in the arrest.

At around 11:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, Graham Police Officer Riley Acosta saw a white Nissan Altima traveling at high speeds at the intersection of Pine Tree Road and Walmart Drive, according to a release by GPD. The vehicle, later identified as being driven by Antonio Javier Jimenez, 19, of Graham, continued to travel west on Pine Tree Road and north onto S. Hwy. 16. Jimenez turned the vehicle north and was driving in the middle of the roadway.

GPEF, GISD recognize individuals, businesses through Hall of Honor

The Graham Public Education Foundation and Graham ISD  honored GISD alumni, staff and community members who have provided meritorious service to the district or their profession at the Hall of Honor dedication Friday at Graham High School. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused a postponement of the event to the beginning of 2021 and then until Fall 2021.
