Bennie Lee “Jack” Gathings, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Abilene. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at 11 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Gooseneck Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Bennie was born June 15, 1927, in Olney, to the late Pearlene (Pinkston) and William Melton Gathings. He was veteran of the United States Army. He was well known as “The Oldest Bouncer in America” at 83 and loved by many. He was a big domino player up until he passed.

Survivors include: son, Bennie Lee “Jack” Gathings, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona and Tod Gathings of Granbury; brother, J.O. Gathings of Richland Hills; five grandchildren and four great great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by daughter, LaDonna Ann Gathings, sisters, Martha Elliott and Maudine Knight and brother, Charles Gathings and grandson, Bengy Holloway.
