Benny R. Stapp, 81, of Greenville passed away Jan. 25, 2017 at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Highland Terrace Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Royce Litchfield and Rev. Larry Jordan will officiate. Interment will follow at Wieland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church until service time. Born Jan. 2, 1936 in Iowa Park, Benny was the son of Hugh Clifton Stapp and Nina (Musgrave) Stapp. On Dec. 23, 1956, he married Rolene Barnett in Graham. He worked in agriculture research for the USDA. Stapp was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church and worked as a volunteer builder for the Texas Baptist Men, of which he was a member. His survivors include his wife, Rolene of Greenville; sons, Craig Stapp and wife Terri, Mark Stapp and wife Olivia, and Kyle Stapp, all of Greenville; sisters, Neta Lackey and husband Junior of Olney, Joyce Gregg and husband Dr. Alvin Gregg of Wichita, Kan. and Gaye Moore and husband Stephen of Greenville; grandchildren, Dustin Stapp of Phoenix, Ariz. and Greysen, Amy and Marshall Stapp, all of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Highland Terrace Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd., Greenville, TX 75402. Pallbearers will be Craig Stapp, Mark Stapp, Kyle Stapp, Dustin Stapp, Greysen Stapp and Marshall Stapp.
