Betty Jean Harris, 89, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, in Graham. Graveside funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 30, 2021, at Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Betty was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Newcastle, Texas, to the late Lilly Irene (Brogdon) Reynolds and Emory Peters Reynolds, Sr. She was a lifetime resident of Newcastle and a former store clerk. Betty married Tommy Gene Harris in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include; daughters, Brenda Stewart and husband Jerry of Newcastle, Dinky Nantz and husband Schuyler of Graham; sisters, Polly Reynolds and Rita Taylor both of Newcastle; grandchildren, Brad Nantz, Kimberly Gibbons, Eric Stewart, Phillip Stewart, Shanna Fulton, Keeli Harris, and Mason Nantz; great grandchildren, Keira Harris, Hayden Gibbons, Liam Gibbons, Abbey and Cheyenne Humphries, and Rhiana and Layla Stewart; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, son Tommy Newt Harris, grandson Tommy Newt Harris, Jr., brothers Walter, Mart, Spain and Cotton Reynolds and sisters Juanita Duncan and Shirley Reynolds.
