Our loving Mother, Betty Lucille Mitchell Guinn Green, has joined her Creator. She was born in 1929, the daughter of Joseph W. Mitchell and Lucille Reed, in Jacksboro, TX.

Throughout the Great Depression, her family of four (younger brother, Truman Curtis) moved often. Her inner strength, self-reliance, trustworthiness and compassion for all people gave her the foundation for a wonderful life. She graduated at the age of 16 from Waller High School in Waller, TX (being moved up two grade levels due to her studious efforts). Upon graduation, she was offered a scholarship by Rice University. She decided to attend Southwestern Business University in Houston, TX which allowed her to work and complete her degree, simultaneously. Her career began as Secretary for Ritchie Advertising in Houston. Her first date with our Father, Charles E. “Mike” Guinn, was on Dec. 15, 1945. They were married in 1947 and had three children: Roy Mitchell, Charles Patrick and Betty Kathleen. They bought their first home on Laskey Street in South Houston when Kathy was born, and lived there for 19 years. Betty quit work to help raise their three children, but eventually went back to serving as Secretary for St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, then full time as Secretary for Fidelity Printing, Bowne of Houston and eventually Vice-President of Pandick Press Houston/Dallas.

Betty retired in 1986, three years after they bought their “North Forty” just North of Graham, TX. Mike and Betty enjoyed country living for ten years before Mike’s passing in 1993. She decided to move into the town of Graham. Four years later, she married Fred Green and enjoyed another 20 years of marriage and the sunny side of life. Survivors include: Half-Brothers, Fred and Robert Mitchell and their families - Brother-in-Law Hal Franklin and Sister-in-Law Kaye Franklin and their family - Children Mitch, Pat, Kathy and Son-in-Law Jerry L. Galbraith - eight grandchildren: Hilary, Justin, Amanda, Travis, Randi, Megan, Katelyn and Dylan and an abundance of Great Grandchildren. Her wishes include cremation, no service, and for us to spread her ashes from Jerry’s boat in the Gulf of Mexico.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the Glory of God. Amen.
