Betty McAnear

Betty McAnear, 85, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday, July 16, 2021. A Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are with Morrison Funeral Home.

Betty was born Sept. 26, 1935 in Jacksboro to the late Polly May (Cherryhomes) Jones and Peyton Smith Jones. She married Donald W. McAnear March 25, 1951, in Jacksboro. Betty was a lifetime resident of Jacksboro and a member of First Baptist Church Jacksboro. Betty was beautiful both inside and out. She loved cooking, especially for the love of her life, her husband of 70 years. She was known for her famous fried pies. She also loved fishing, painting, friends and family.

Survivors include; husband Don McAnear of Jacksboro; daughters, Patti Riggins and husband Freddy, Debbie McAnear, and Donna Sweatt Denny, all of Graham; six grandchildren, Alison Seaberry and husband Will, Elizabeth Bynum and husband Randy, Dan Riggins and wife Julie, Donald Fulbright and wife Meg, Mandy Robertson and Jimmy Langley, Marci Sweatt Huckobey and husband John; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Odgers, Polly Glazner, Cherry Armstrong, and Julia Rumage, four brothers, Bobby, Ancil, George, and Manville Jones.
