Bill Hearne, age 82, of Olney, Texas passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 23, 2021, in a Graham hospital.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Olney with Chad Edgington, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Newcastle Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at Lunn’s Funeral Home in Olney.

Bill was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Newcastle, Texas to the late Liston Hearne and Mamie Alice Moore Hearne.

In 1957, he graduated from Newcastle High School and then attended Decatur Baptist College.

He married Nita Medlen on Aug. 21, 1959, in Olney. Together they had three sons who they raised in Graham from 1959 until 1983. They then moved to Olney.

Bill was a master carpenter by trade and a cowboy by heart.  His carpenter work was outstanding and he was always in demand. Bill and Nita loved watching sports and attending sporting events. He enjoyed hunting with his family and looked forward to spending time at the Deer Camp in De Leon every year. Bill and Nita enjoyed going to the Texasville Opry in Archer City and every time he would say “That’s the Best Show Ever”.

Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olney.  He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Cutting Horse Association and the Texas Cattle Raisers Association. He also was a member of the “Ol’ Farts Coffee Club” where he enjoyed spending the mornings with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Nita of Olney; three sons, William Powell II and wife, Dianne, Jeffrey Kyle and wife, Tina, and Daniel Kirt and wife, Shannon; eight grandchildren, Haley Tyler and husband, Jason, Weston Hearne, Delaney Enriquez and husband, Joseph, Meredith Ingram and husband, Blake, Landry Hearne, Kaylan Brown and husband, Stephen, Kole Hearne, and Kerrigan Hearne; three great-grandchildren, Avery Tyler, Juliet Enriquez and Baker Ingram; and numerous friends.

Bill was also preceded in death by brother, Charles Hearne; sisters, Martha Privett and Mildred Patterson; and twin great-grandsons, Holden Kyle and Bodie Farrow Ingram.

Serving as pallbearers were Brandon Cook, Bill Davis, Kole Hearne, Weston Hearne, Claude Kinser, Bill Little and Don Pint.
