Bunnye Baldwin

Thu, 01/26/2017 - 9:54 am
Bunnye Baldwin, 72, of Friendswood, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, after a years-long battle with COPD and cancer. She is survived by her husband, Roland Chris Baldwin; daughters, Crystye and Karrye, and son-in-law Ty; sisters. Connye Hamlin and Tommye Lyles; and older brother Dayne Miller. Bunnye was born in Graham on Feb. 10, 1944. She was the daughter of Vennie Brannon and Tom Miller. Bunnye attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she met her husband, and moved with him to the Houston area in order to be close to his work with IBM and NASA. While raising two girls, Bunnye went back and finished her bachelor's degree, graduating from the University of Houston. Bunnye dedicated her life to nurturing and growth, through her dedication to her family, numerous volunteer projects and her beautiful garden. She taught Sunday School at Friendswood United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. She was also a proud member of the Heritage Gardeners, the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs, and the Friendswood Historical Society, where she was instrumental in the restoration of the 1902 Perry Home. She believed that the greatest gift one could give was to work hard and help something bloom, whether it was a child, an animal or one of her gorgeous plants. It is fitting that even at the end of her life, she was more worried about her loved ones than herself. Her dedication, kindness, and easy laugh will be greatly missed by her family and friends. At Bunnye's request, there will be a memorial service only, held at a later date in order to allow her husband to recover from a recent surgery. The family asks that in lieu of condolences, you honor Bunnye's memory by planting something and helping it grow.
