Darrell Weatherbee

Darrell Weatherbee, 71, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at his home in Graham. A private burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22, in Pioneer Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the Eastside Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Darrell was born Sept. 10, 1946 in Fort Worth, to the late M.K. and Flo Weatherbee. Darrell graduated from Graham High School and received his master’s degree from Tarleton State University in 1975. He married Lana Forehand on June 7, 1969 in Graham. Darrell served in the U.S. Army and was discharged as a sergeant. He was the owner of Weatherbee Real Estate and Construction, where he was a licensed real estate broker, state certified general real estate appraiser, FHA and VA appraiser, general building contractor, ranch broker, developer and rancher. Darrell became the first designated Fire Wise Builder in Texas by Texas Forest Service designation. He also was a director, board member, and review appraiser at Graham Savings, former Appraisal Review Board member and chairman of Young County, Board of Equalization for the city of Graham, a former college instructor and academy instructor for USAR 90th Army Command and helped develop and build the Wildcatter Ranch. Darrell served as president for Graham Chamber of Commerce, Graham Regional Hospital, Graham Evening Lions Club, and Old Post Office Museum board. He served on the board of Graham Industrial Association and Graham Sheltered Workshop and was a member and elder at Eastside Church of Christ. Darrell was known as "D Daddy" to his grandkids and friends. Survivors include his wife, Lana Weatherbee of Graham; daughter, Shana Wolfe and husband Troy of Graham; two grandchildren, Easton and Lexi Wolfe of Graham; sisters, Reba Fox and husband James of Midland and Janice Evans of Graham and her son Brandon Evans and wife, Tamra of Burleson; brother, Glenn Weatherbee and wife Jane of Abilene; many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his son, Shane Weatherbee; parents, M.K. and Florence Weatherbee; brother, Paul Weatherbee; father in-law and mother in-law, Garland and Joyce Forehand; and brother-in-law, Norman Evans.
