Dorothy Dawson, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Frisco, Texas. The celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. The graveside service will be Wednesday, 4 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Byers, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born March 16, 1929 in Byers, Texas to the late Effie Jewel (Hood) Hefner and Perry Tillman Hefner. She married William Parr “Bill” Dawson, Dec. 1, 1952 in Wichita Falls. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2017.

Dorothy lived a full and beautiful life. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. At 18, she sang in a trio for Youth for Christ for several years. She was an amazing woman who had many talents and never met a stranger. She was a daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, businesswoman, realtor, homemaker, seamstress, artist, singer, decorator, and always enjoyed hosting parties to celebrate every holiday. Her pecan pies were legendary. She was beautiful inside and out and was beloved by all who knew her.

Survivors include: daughter, Cindy Taylor of San Antonio; sons, Mark Dawson and wife Cynthia of McKinney, Matt Dawson of Frisco; grandchildren, Joshua Logsdon and wife Jennifer, Patrick Logsdon, Jason and Meredith Dawson, Amanda Gordon; great grandchildren, Jaelynn, Maddie, Abbey, and Emma.
