Doug Hamilton

Doug Hamilton, 52, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017. Funeral is scheduled Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Tyra Cemetery at Murray, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Doug was born Feb. 21, 1965 in Grapevine, Texas to Ella Marchman Hamilton and the late James Hamilton. He attended Texas State Technical College in Waco and earned an associate degree in automotive technology and a certificate in diesel and truck maintenance. Doug held an automotive services excellence (ASE), and was a certified master automobile technician. He worked for Don Helm Chevrolet and later owned his own auto shop. Doug also was an oilfield pumper and involved in ranching. He dearly loved drag racing, starting at the age of sixteen with a 1965 Chevy pickup, then a Vega and Mazda racing in Wichita Falls. Progressing to a rear engine dragster, he was building a new one this year. Doug's son Michael plans to finish the dragster in memory of his Dad and plans to race it next year. Doug also loved motorcycles, in July, he and a group of buddies made a trip to Colorado on their bikes. Doug had a very special fondness for his dachshund dogs. He loved his family and his special group of biker friends along with the VFW. Survivors include; mother, Ella Hamilton of Graham; son, Michael Hamilton and wife Megan of Graham; granddaughter, Harley; sister, Michele Ivy and husband Bob of Stinnett; aunts, Mary Holland and Annette Cohen and uncle Eddy Hamilton. Doug was preceded in death by his father, James Hamilton, a brother Trent Hamilton, grandparents, Gene (ER) Marchman, Bertha Marchman, Annie Hamilton and Ellis Hamilton, an uncle, Gene Moreland and aunt Effie Moreland. Family visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
