Dr. Kurt Thomas Brown

Tue, 06/06/2017 - 2:56 pm
Dr. Kurt Brown passed away June 5, 2017 at his home in Graham, surrounded by his family, after a two-year triumphant battle with ALS. A rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1218 Rodgers Dr., Graham, on Thursday, June 8, at 7 p.m., and a funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9. Kurt Thomas Brown was born Sept. 22, 1960 in Columbia, Mo., to the late Dr. William Donald Brown and Diane Jeanine (Hydeman) Brown. God in His infinite wisdom has seen fit to remove from the walks of men this kind and compassionate soul, but the works of Kurt Brown will live on for many generations yet to come. Kurt moved to Graham in 1990 and spent his life as a chiropractor, endeavoring to help those in pain regardless of their ability to pay. If Kurt Brown could speak to us today he would not ask for a glowing obituary. He would refuse to allow his name spread over the pages of his own home newspaper. He genuinely disliked personal publicity and consistently evaded the limelight. Kurt was a man who lived by the side of the road and watched the race of man go by. Typical of his desire to be of service to others, Kurt requested that his body be donated for research. Arrangements have been made with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Kurt is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Lori, of Graham; his devoted son, John Brown and daughter-in-law Allie of San Antonio and by a grandson, William Kurt Brown. Kurt is also survived by his mother, Diane Brown of San Antonio, formerly of Wichita Falls; his brothers, Kent Brown, Mark Brown and wife Marilyn, all of Wichita Falls, and King Brown and wife Maria of Tucson, Ariz. and by his sister Kelly Requa and husband Larry of San Antonio. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Plus many extended members of the Irwin, D’arcangelis, Congemi and Borrow families. Kurt was preceded in death by his son, Harrison Brown, his father, Dr. William D. Brown and by his nephew, Michael Brown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kurt’s memory to the Harrison Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund at Cierra Bank, 623 Elm Street, Graham, Texas 76450.
