Elsie Dooley Phillips Thomas

Elsie Dooley Phillips Thomas, 96, found her forever home in heaven on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church, 209 Tennessee Street, Graham. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28 at Morrison Funeral Home, Graham from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Elsie was born on Sept. 27, 1925 in Stephens County to the late Clarence and Lela Dooley. She married RJ Phillips on Nov. 5, 1946. They had five children: Gary Phillips and wife Arla of Eliasvillle, Randall Phillips and wife Debbie of Charleston, S.C., David Phillips and wife Jamie of Graham, Amy Willis of Arlington, and Kevin Phillips and wife Terri of Houston. She was preceded in death by husband RJ Phillips. Elsie loved her family and was so proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She married James W. Thomas on April 26, 1980. Step children Diane Farabee of Wichita Falls, Jim Thomas and wife Leann of Bonham, and Kevin Thomas and wife Diana of Wenatchee, Wash. were added to her family.

She is survived by siblings Earl Dooley and wife Judy of Washington State, Alex Dooley of Possum Kingdom, and Maggie Lay and husband David of Breckenridge. She was preceded in death by siblings Bob Dooley and Anna Lou McKee.

Elsie worked for a local attorney in her early years. She later worked as secretary for the Graham Police Department where she retired after 22 years of service. Elsie never knew a stranger. She was a friend to everyone and an adopted mother to many.
