Ernest Clifford ‘E.C.’ Brock Jr.

Ernest Clifford “E.C.” Brock Jr., 73, of Tolar (Justin) passed away Monday, May 8, 2017. E.C. left a legacy of love for all who knew him. He spent his early years building metal buildings, playing semipro volleyball and fast pitch softball. He coached Little League baseball and girls’ softball. He taught school for 25 years at Northwest ISD. E.C. was a member of North Texas High School Rodeo Association for 40-plus years. He picked up broncs for over 35 years, hauled bulldogging horses and hazed for hundreds of up and coming rodeo stars. He served eight years as a member of the board of directors, two of which he served as president. His favorite saying was, “The most important things in life are family, good friends and great horses, and not necessarily in that order.” E.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lela Brock, and one sister, Stella Sparks. E.C. leaves behind his loving bride of 53 years, Linda Smith Brock; four children, Brenda Moe and husband Mike, Sandy Smith, Les Brock and wife Rilla, and Kelly Pickens and husband Scott; nine grandchildren, Melinda Nolen (Chase), Buck Mattern, Emily Matlock (Colton), Kristin Smith, Taylor Brock, Bailey Brock, Raelynn Brock, Les Brock Jr. (Bub), and Lela Pickens; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vertelee Coleman and husband John, Ellen Lovett, and Jean Morrow; and numerous nieces, nephews and adoptees. Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Triple Cross Cowboy Church, Granbury. Services are 1 p.m., Friday, May 12, at Triple Cross Cowboy Church, Granbury. Interment will be held at Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville. E.C. believed every child deserves a chance. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of E.C. Brock to the NTHSRA Scholarship Fund, PO Box 79500, Saginaw, TX 76179.
