Ernest “Fred” Wooldridge, 92, born on March 7, 1930, in Newcastle, TX, to Ernest Fred and Emma Glyn (Hunter) Wooldridge, went home to his Savior on May 5, 2022.

Fred is now strolling across heaven with the love of his life, Betty L Wooldridge (Ashburn). The couple were married Dec 18, 1954, in Rule, TX.

Fred worked in the Texas oil fields until he was 28, when advised by doctors to avoid the sun after discovering he had five types of skin cancer. Fred then went to work for McDonnell Aircraft in Missouri and was quickly promoted to supervisor. Upon retirement in 1987, Fred and Betty returned to Texas to enjoy friendships, the RV life and square dancing for a few years. Fred was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham. Many of his retired years were spent lovingly and selflessly caring for Betty during her bout with rheumatoid arthritis. His patience, compassion and gentleness was adored by many. Fred enjoyed and looked forward to activities with his YAHA Sunday School Class, Men’s Prayer Breakfast and Driving for Merrill Gardens/Horizon Bay residents.

Fred was a role-model husband, father and grandfather. He is fondly remembered as a patient, kind, loving, faithful, giving, intelligent, authentic man who prayed daily for his family, friends, country, and events. Fred’s family is ever grateful for his prayers, Christian character, and strength to stand for his beliefs in a humble, bold, yet gentle manner.

Mr. Wooldridge was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L Wooldridge; sister, Susan Holmes; and great-great grandson, Tyler Kershner.

Fred is lovingly missed and remembered by his daughter, Margaret “Annie” Strickland; Granddaughter, Karen Damjanovich (husband John Damjanovich); Grandson, Preston Selby; Great-Granddaughters, Stephani Kershner (fiancé Michael Squire), Percy Selby; Great-Grandson, Steven Kershner; and Great-Great Granddaughters, Adelyn, Halle, Arabella, Bria, Temperance, and Molly.

Arrangements: McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home. Friday, May 13 at 3 p.m. Visitation 2-3.
