Wed, 12/12/2018 - 8:52 am

Still living life to the fullest until the end, Florence Juanell (Baird) Howard (Nana Nell) passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, at the First Baptist Church in Henrietta. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

She was born in 1931, near Mobitee. Most of her childhood was spent in Graham. Shortly after high school graduation, she married “Red” Martin. They had two children: Terry and Laneise. After moving to Graham in 1962, Juanell began working as a nurse's aide, finding her life’s calling. Soon she earned an LVN degree followed by an RN degree. Paid or not, she offered her compassion and medical skills for the remainder of her life.
While working as hospital charge nurse in Henrietta, Nell married P. V. Howard in 1981. Though P.V.’s son Bob and his wife Cathy were the age of her natural children, she loved them and their family as her own.

Nana Nell was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sisters-in-law Patsy and Mickey, and son-in-law Tim.

She is survived by her brothers James and Jerry; sister JoAnn and husband Bobby; son Terry and wife Lamona; daughter Laneise; stepson Bob and wife Cathy; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Davis Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Henrietta, PO Box 544, Henrietta, Texas 76365, Hospice of Wichita Falls at PO Box 4804 Wichita Falls, Texas 76308, or the Sherrie Baird Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Deaf at 101 Birdwell Lane, Big Springs, Texas 79720.
