Frank W. Wilson

Frank W. Wilson, 87 years of age, went to be with his Lord and Savior, June 2, 2016.


He was born Feb. 11, 1929, to Dan and Lorene Wilson in Olney, Texas. He was married to his beloved wife Jimmie Lee Swift, on Nov. 21, 1958, in Dallas, Texas. They were blessed with four children, Kathy Renea, Karla Kaye, Kimberly Gaye and James Daniel.


He began his mortuary career at age 13, with Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas. He graduated from Graham High School in 1946, and then attended Howard Payne College and North Texas State University, graduating with a BBA degree. He received his license as a funeral director following his studies at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science.


He then served four years as a Staff Sergeant in the Intelligence Corps in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he served as a funeral director in Dallas, Burkburnett, and Lubbock, where he established Resthaven and Wilson Funeral Homes. He moved his family to Odessa in 1979, and established Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. He worked as a Funeral Director for over 70 years, serving tirelessly over 10,000 families. He considered the mortuary business his calling and ministry, serving every family with gentleness, compassion, respect and love.


He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church Odessa. He was also a member of the Odessa Rotary Club, Lubbock Lions Club, and Texas Funeral Directors Association, where he served on the TFDA State Board.


Frank W. Wilson is survived by daughters Kathy Brown and husband Rick of San Antonio, Karla Wilson of Odessa, Kimberly Corman and husband David of Odessa, James Daniel Wilson of Odessa; six grandchildren, Cpl. James Andrew Corman, Jacob Corman, Benjamin Corman, Grace Corman, Joshua Brown, Wesley Brown; and great-grandchild Rylan Corman.


The family received friends Monday, June 6, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. A service of Remembrance was held on Tuesday June 7, 2016, at 10 am at First Baptist Church Odessa with Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. Interment was at 4 p.m. Tuesday June 7, 2016, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.
