Freddy Leon Davis

Tue, 03/20/2018 - 8:58 am
Freddy was born Aug. 1, 1955 in Snyder, to Mary Jo and the late Calvin Leon Davis. After 62 years as a son, brother, friend, father and PePaw, he passed peacefully at home in Possum Kingdom Lake, surrounded by his loved ones. Freddy went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 14, 2018, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his fiancee, Jo Lynn Miller of Possum Kingdom Lake; mother, Mary Jo Davis of Longview, daughters, Beckie Ellis (Stephen) of San Leon, and Racheal Paschall (Aaron) of Marshall; son, Nathan Davis (Angel) of Humble; eight grandchildren, Ava and Adalynn Ellis, Weston and Landon Paschall, and Grayson, Airalynn, Everly, and Briella Davis; sister, Debbie Penick (Don) of Dallas, brother, Jimmy Davis (Vickie) of McAllen; and his nieces, nephew and great nieces. Other survivors include his family-in-love, Jo Ann Morris, Maxie Britt, Brad, Jessica, Bradlee, and Brady Brinkman, all of Iowa Park, and Joseph Cockrum of Euless. Freddy went to high school in McAllen, where he was active in sports, and he attended Kilgore College. He was employed by Targa Resources, and was recently recognized for 35 years of service with the company. Freddy will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing and golf, and for his fun-loving antics. Those who knew him often considered hime to be a big bear: sometimes a teddy bear, always a care bear, and occasionally even a grizzly bear. But his big bear hugs are what we will all miss until he gives us one in Heaven. Memorial celebrations will be held on March 23, at 1 p.m. at the McWhorter Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, and on March 25, at 2 p.m. at Rock Creek Camp at Possum Kingdom Lake. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
