Garland Lee Phillips

Garland Lee Phillips, age 77, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 in Olney. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13,  in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Harrell Braddock, Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Garland was born Oct. 26, 1941 in Olney, to the late Sewell Hoffman and Veda Yvonne (Phillips) Hoffman. He was a lifetime resident of Olney and the Owner/Operator of G P’s Leather Shop for 46 years. He married Gena Dee Smith on March 27, 1972 in Olney. He was a member of the Olney Rodeo Association and a member of the Community Auction Board of the North Texas Rehab for over 26 years. Garland was a Protestant and a mentor to many people. Garland was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Ruby and Burley Phillips, his parents, and two brothers, Ray Phillips and Jackie Hoffman.  

Garland is survived by his wife, Gena Phillips of Olney; one son, Todd Phillips and wife Ashley of Olney; two daughters, Tiffany Dame of Olney and Tobey Wolfe of Oklahoma; two sisters, Diann Kinser of Newcastle and Felicia Jones of Olney; his step-mother, Esther Hoffman of Newcastle; seven grandchildren, Jacob Bright, Karah Dame, PFC Kalie Dame, Brinkley Bright, Aiden Phillips, Tate Twilligear and Logan Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Cambrea, Hayden and Cayleigh; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends and mentors.

Family visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home.
