Gerald Edwin “Jerry” Woodward

Gerald Edwin “Jerry” Woodward, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Abilene.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.


Jerry was born Jan. 2, 1934, in Hatch, New Mexico, to the late Clinton B. and Iris Elizabeth (Zant) Woodward. He married Barbara Elaine Kurtz June 14, 1953, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army and owned and operated Woodward Lumber Company.  He moved to Graham in 1998 from Las Cruces and moved to Abilene in 2013.


Survivors include his wife, Barbara Woodward of Abilene; son, Gary Woodward and wife Dana of Ruidoso, New Mexico; daughter, Stephanie Lang and husband Brett of San Angelo; son-in-law, Larry Teaff of Graham; son, John Zant of Lafayette, Louisiana; brother, C.B. Woodward, Jr. of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sister, Sylvia Merritt of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandchildren, Derrick Woodward and Mary Cathryn, Esther Early and Stephen, Gail Gomez and Eric, Ty Lang and Jackie, Charity Lang, Jessi Stumpf and Kris and Tanner Teaff; and nine great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Lynn Teaff.
