Harold Barnhart

Harold Barnhart, 89, passed away at his home on Feb. 13, 2019. Son of the late Harvey Jay Barnhart and Dovie Viola Barnhart (né Dendy), Mr. Barnhart was born in Graham on Jan. 13, 1930, where he lived for 57 years. His other residences included Tulsa, Okla. and Omaha, Neb.

After serving two years in the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet aboard the aircraft carrier USS Princeton, he returned to Graham and married Sadie Jones in 1950. Barnhart also served as Graham City Secretary for three years and was involved in the construction of Lake Graham and Graham General Hospital. He was a lifetime member of the Graham Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. During his 10-year stint on the Graham Volunteer Fire Department, he developed the idea and participated in the construction of Firemen’s Park. The majority of his career was spent working in sales for the trucking industry which required traveling over a large portion of the U.S.

Mr. Barnhart is survived by his wife, Sadie Barnhart; a sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Melvin Russell of Burleson; four children: Stephen of Lewisville, N.C., Deborah Barnhart-Cohen of Calabasas, Calif., Kelly Barnhart of Skiatook, Okla., and Jerri Barnhart of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a nephew, Rex Russell of Cleburne; a niece, Melodi Faris of Ft. Worth; a granddaughter, Amber Holmes of Tulsa, Okla.; two great-grandchildren; and special friend, Kim Tyron of Omaha, Neb.

Family visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 4-6 p.m. and services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Country Road Fellowship, PO Box 997, Graham, TX 76450.
