John Berry Robitaille died in Houston on Jan. 26, 2018 at the age of 82, while holding the hand of his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia Davis Robitaille. He was born June 14, 1935 in Kansas City, Mo., and was the son of the late Earle Wittman Robitaille and the late Alberta Berry Robitaille. Berry grew up in Graham, with his revered younger brothers, Thomas Wittman Robitaille, now of Great Falls, Mont., and Richard Talbot Robitaille, now of Casper, Wyoming. He graduated from Rice University with engineering degrees and was an officer in the Navy on the USS Saratoga for two years. After his service, he had a long career at Texas Instruments from which he retired. He was a wonderful father to his children, Mark Wittman Robitaille of Houston, and Marcia Berry Robitaille of Medfield, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his dear son-in-law, Kenneth L. Manning, and adored grandchildren, Katherine Robitaille Manning and Kenneth Robitaille Manning, all of Medfield, Mass. He was blessed with cherished sisters-in-law (including Jan Robitaille, JoAnn Robitaille, and the late Donna Robitaille), nieces (including Suzanne Sherick, Sara Sexe, and Karen Hinchey), nephews (including John Robitaille), great-nieces and nephews, cousins, “outlaws,” neighbors, and friends. He was the proud godfather to Suzanne Sherick and Boyd Smythe. Berry was a basketball player, basketball and soccer coach, scoutmaster, hunter, fisherman, do-it-yourselfer, recycler and avid dessert enthusiast. His most treasured times were spent with his family, especially family reunions, traveling with his children and grandchildren, and dancing with his wife. Berry showed great courage and strength battling a long and difficult illness, and he is now at peace. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Houston at the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Berry’s memory to the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church Caring Forever Foundation or charity of your choice.
