Jackie Errol Tatsch

Jackie Errol Tatsch, 76, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. at Murray Cemetery in Young County. Jack was born Oct. 12, 1939 in Llano, to Ilda Irena Schneider and Gardner Tatsch. He married Mary Glenn Mayes on Oct. 25, 1958 in Midland, and he adored her for the next 57 years. They had two children: a son, Joe, and a daughter, Pam. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years, starting at age 18 as a lineman. He also worked as a splicer and eventually moved into the engineering office. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He started an exotic game ranch in Llano where he raised black bucks and axis deer. Jack was past president of the Midland Rifle Association. He enjoyed making guns and shooting and he won several competitions at the shooting range. Jack was currently the president of the Murray Cemetery Association where he kept business records for the cemetery. Jack loved to travel, especially in his RV. He visited many national parks, Moab National Park in Utah being his favorite. He would take his jeep up mountains even a billy goat would not go. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Castell as a teenager and attended Wilshire Park Baptist Church in Midland.  In addition to traveling, Jack adored his grandchildren. He loved to take them hunting and fishing and loved to watch them play sports. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Glenn Tatsch; son, Joe Tatsch and wife, Dawn and daughter, Pam Simpson and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Josh, Lacey and Grace Simpson, and James, Jared and Emily Tatsch; brother, Gary Tatsch and wife, Charlene; and brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Carolyn Mayes. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billie C. Tatsch. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Midland.
