James E. Smith, 83, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in Weatherford. Graveside services were held Friday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial services followed at 3 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. James was born Sept. 11, 1933 in Snyder, to the late J.R. and Ocie (Beeman) Smith. He married Waunita Austin on July 6, 1967 in New Home. He worked at GMI for 20 years as a supervisor in the coating department. James was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Waunita Smith of Graham; daughters, Roxanne Poe of Azle, Tammy King of Lorenzo and Marion England of Graham; sons, Bruce Smith of Graham, Kent Smith of Crowell and Clifford Smith of Bryson; sisters, Martha McDonald of Ropesville and Donnie Allen of Lubbock; brothers, John Smith of Ropesville and Gerald Smith of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Smith, and a brother, Mickey Smith.
