James Gardner “Jim” Stewart

James Gardner “Jim” Stewart, 93, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 in Fort Worth.  Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Morrison Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. 

Jim was born May 18, 1925 in Fort Worth to the late Thomas Clyde Stewart and Mary Kendall Gardner Stewart. He was a veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers, serving during World War II in France, Philippines, and landed on Utah Beach just after D-Day.  He married Virginia Adams, July 17, 1948 in Fort Worth. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2018. Jim moved to Graham in 1958 from Abilene and was a self-employed Geologist. He was a member of First Baptist Church Graham where he was a former Junior High Sunday school teacher, a former Boy Scout leader and a former baseball coach. He loved the outdoors especially fishing.

Survivors include; daughter, Linda Lawson of Weatherford; sons, Randy Stewart and wife Cathy of Bryan and Scott Stewart and wife Rebecca of San Francisco; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  

Visitation was Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lake Worth Area Historical Society (LWAHS).
