James Robert Camp, 88, of Graham, passed away peacefully in his home Monday, July 13, 2020. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.

Jim was born Jan. 19, 1932 in Springfield, Missouri to the late James and Audra Camp. He graduated from St Agnes High School in 1951 and enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in July 1951. He married his high school sweet heart, Barbara Rauch, June 13, 1953. When Jim was discharged in 1955 he began his studies at Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield while working for Kraft Food Company. In 1957, he went back into active duty with the Air Force serving continuously until his retirement in 1981. He served during the both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation medal along with many other service medals and awards. He completed a BSOE Degree at Wayland Baptist University and a Master of Science Degree in Education at North Texas State University.

After retiring from the Air Force Jim continued working as a Civil Service Employee from 1984-1999. Jim was a humble man who loved God, Family, the outdoors and his dogs. He cared for his wife before she passed and soon after he moved to Graham to be closer to family. Here he developed many new and lasting friendships. He loved the staff and residents at Elmcroft as they shared their past and embraced the joy of each day. In his down time, he loved learning, reading and fishing. He was quick witted and enjoyed a good laugh as he will be fondly remembered for his infectious smile and compassion.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Victor Camp; and sister Patsy Vaughn.

He is survived by son James E. Camp of Burkburnett; daughters Carla and husband Jon Miller of Graham, and Lori Camp of Lancaster Ohio; grandsons Jake of Arlington, and Wesley Camp of Lancaster, Ohio and Chase Bobo of Burkburnett; granddaughters Madalyn Miller of Graham, and Lori M. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you give a donation to the Graham Crises Center, a charity of your choice, or you may give blood to the American Red Cross. Your love, kindness and compassion can make a difference for someone in need today.

The family would like to extend heart felt gratitude to the ENTIRE Staff at Elmcroft, Beyond Faith Hospice, Young County Home Health and Graham Regional Medical Center for your service, love and caretaking of our daddy, and Pop.
