James Wallace Joplin

James Wallace Joplin, age 95, passed away in Graham on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022. Funeral will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 2 p.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

James was born on July 19, 1926, in Merkel, TX to James Osborn Joplin and Mary Jane (Riffe) Joplin. He married Anna Maxine Reedy in Archer City on Dec. 31, 1945 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2002. James served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Japan as a paratrooper. He later worked in the oil field. He was a lifetime resident of Young County. His grandkids and great grandkids were the joy of his life.

James is survived by his children, Janice Mayo of Graham and Norman Joplin of Carrollton; sisters, Emma Rutherford of Durango, CO and Joan Smith of DeSoto; grandchildren, Shelley and Norman Davis, Brent and Becky Nunley, Lindsay and Jamie Wisdom, Shauna Mayo, and Tyler and Micah Mayo; great grandchildren, Blake and Kelly Davis, Sydney and Mark Jackson, Caden and Courtney Davis, Shelby and Bridger Seay, Shaely Nunley, Shylar Nunley, Case Wisdom, Crue Wisdom, Karsyn Wisdom, Mcleery Mayo, Maxwell Mayo, and Harper Mayo; and great great grandchildren, Judah and Serenity.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; daughter, Paula Joplin Nunley; daughter in law, Deborah Joplin; son in law, Gerry Nunley; along with three brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be made in James’ name to a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be Monday 5-7 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
