Janice Marie Hartley (Gray) of Troy, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 3, 2021, at the age of 90 years, 105 days. She was the daughter of Carmen and Pauline Gray; sister to Gloria (Richard) Albright, of Lima, Betty (Bill) Etherington of Tipp City and Ruth McElfresh, of Tuscon. Ruth is the only survivor. She was also mother to Kathryn (John) Wehrman of Troy, Stephen Duff, deceased, of Logansport, IN; William (Christelle) Duff of Graham, TX; Patty (Tim) Whitley of Santo, TX and Russell Shuey, Deceased, of Albany, NY. She was Grandmother to Maria Richardson, Anthony Riffell, Monica Kirkland-Fox, Rebecca Crous, Brandon Sanders, William Sanders, Christopher Sanders, and Tara Whitley. There are eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Throughout her life in Troy, she cultivated many friends; at the Troy Library, Tim Horton’s, Skyline Chili and Bakehouse Bread where she hailed all she met with a wide smile over good coffee. A lot happens in 90 years of living and she met it all; with the determination of one who moves through and keeps moving.

A family dinner gathering is being planned for Janice in July in Texas where members of her family living there can honor her memory over good food, good coffee and good conversation, because she would have rather met you over coffee than a coffin.
