J.B. White, 82, passed away Sept. 7, 2017, in Abilene. Visitation will be all day Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Shaffer Funeral Home, with family present 6-8 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Shaffer Funeral Home’s Sherwood Way Chapel with William Shank officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. J.B. was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Hamilton County to Joe and Bertha White. He married Mary Jean Dutton on Dec. 31, 1955, in Dublin. J.B. worked at Hexcel Manufacturing in Graham for 30 years before retiring and moving to Stephenville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean; his parents, Joe and Bertha White; and sisters, Ruby McMillan and Mary Smith. J.B. is survived by his three sons, Joe (Rocky) White of Tomball, Dick Tal White of Dallas, and Larry White and wife, Lauren, of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Adam Blake White, Amanda Rene White, Alexander Christian White, Daniel DiRusso White and Jacob Anthony White; sisters, Martha Driver, Jeanie McKnight and Sarah Roeder of San Angelo, Willie Bauer of Art, Jo Ann Shank of San Antonio and Carolyn Stover of Ozona. The last few years of J.B.'s life, he had a strong desire to move back to Dublin, Texas where he grew up around his “Prater cousins,” playing his guitar and singing with his friends.
