J.C. Stanton went to be with his heavenly Father on Feb. 13, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle. Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home in Graham. J.C. was born Jan. 8, 1927 in Childress, to James Christopher and Lula Pearl (Zuber) Stanton. He served our country and was a World War II veteran who was stationed in the Philippines and Korea. After returning home from the Army, he met and married Ella Marie Dobson on Oct. 18, 1947, who was the love of his life for 64 years. J.C. was a God-fearing man and loved his family dearly. He made his and his family's home in Newcastle for over 60 years. J.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Marie, in 2010; two sons, Glen Jay, in 1951, and Roy Wayne, in 1997; his great-granddaughter, Faith Renee Brookins, in 2008; his parents, James Christopher Stanton, in 1965, and Lula Pearl (Zuber) Stanton, in 1992; two brothers, Alava Stanton, in 1984, and Clyde Stanton, in 1998; and two sisters, Pauline Stanton, in 1934, and Pearl Elizabeth Stanton Richardson, in 2001. J.C is survived by his daughters, Linda Pruitt of Graham, Nora Brookins and husband, Chuck, of Aubrey; son, Terry Stanton of Young County; grandchildren, Jason Pruitt of Graham, Cory Spurlin and husband, Thomas, of Newcastle, Chuck Brookins III and wife, Reena, of Wichita Falls, and Carl Stanton of Connecticut; great-grandchildren, Sean Osborn and wife Makayla of Olney, J.T. Spurlin of Newcastle, Grace Marie and Sydney Rae Brookins of Wichita Falls, and Brooklyn and Carter Pruitt of Graham; great-great-grandson, Grayson River Osborn of Olney; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
