Jerlean Cordell

Jerlean Cordell, 93, of Graham passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, at the Cottonwood Cemetery near Bryson, with Wayne Trice officiating.

Jerlean was born Aug. 24, 1926 at the family farm near Bryson to Joseph Holman and Gertrude (Tripp). She moved to Jacksboro in her teens with her widowed mother, attended high school and was a waitress. She met Elmer C Cordell from Newport and they married Jan. 6, 1945 in Vernon. Elmer worked in oil well drilling and production and they lived in Wichita Falls, Haskell and Gainesville before moving to Graham.

Jerlean was a devoted mother and wife. She also worked in Graham for Brittain Pharmacy, the Hospital Womens Auxilliary and did private care for senior citizens. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and Brazos Valley Baptist Church.

She was loved dearly and was an encouragement to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Elmer; three sons, Timothy, Mickey and Larry; one daughter Beverly Cordell; three brothers Emmett, Ernest and Chester; and four sisters, her twin Jodean Hudson and Eva Lee Logan, Verba Bone, Imogene "Toots" Brown.

Survivors include daughter, Sharon Crumley and husband Larry of Katy; one daughter in-law Linda Wade Cordell of Cleburne; one sister, Bobbie Jo Langford of Graham; five grandchildren, Chris, Angela and Andrea Cordell and Bradley and Brian Crumley; and many great grandchildren.
