Jimmie Ray Wheeler

Jimmie Ray Wheeler, age 70, of Sulphur Springs, passed away on Jan. 16, 2021, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital. He was born April 25, 1950, in Abilene, Texas, the son of Jimmie Joshuay Wheeler and Neta Fae Aston Wheeler.

Jimmie graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1968 and received an associate degree from Cisco Junior College. He worked for Frito-Lay approximately 20 years and then worked for Coca Cola and United Food Stores. He retired in 2013 from C.D. Harnett where he had been in sales.

Jimmie married Carolyn Sue “Susie” Glover on April 7, 2007 in Killeen, Texas. They lived in Callahan County until February 2019 when they moved near Arbala in Hopkins County.

Jimmie had many interests and hobbies. He loved his horses Toby, Buddy, Domino and Snowcap, all Appaloosas, and he will be missed by dogs Tonto, Sassie and Skye. Jimmie loved the outdoors, especially the mountains, and he loved to travel. He liked to fish, watch western movies, read and sit by the fire.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Susie of Sulphur Springs, Texas, mother Neta of Eastland, Texas, daughters Tracy Northcutt of Abilene, Texas, and Jenny Scott and husband Jonathan of Albany, Texas, step-sons Lance Snead of Fort Worth, Texas, and Travis Snead of Durango, Colorado, brother Randall Wheeler and wife Kayla of Buffalo Gap, Texas, and sisters, Joy Phillips and husband Russ of Tyler, Texas, and Elaine Cuson of Brownwood, Texas, grandchildren, Rylie and Taylor Scott of Albany, Texas, Trinity and Tate Northcutt of Abilene, Texas, and Wyatt Snead of Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Joshuay Wheeler.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at South Liberty Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O.
