John Henry ‘Johnny’ Gibbs

John Henry "Johnny" Gibbs, 88, of Graham went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016. A graveside funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 3 p.m. at Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.  Johnny was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Olney, to the late Henry Coleman and Ethel Belle (Trammell) Gibbs. He married Elsie Lee Rogers on March 14, 1952 in Graham. Johnny was a member of the First Christian Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was veteran of the Army, having served in the Korean War.  Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elsie Lee Gibbs of Graham; daughter, Sherri Brock and husband, Tommy, of Graham; sister, Emma Lou Farmer of Fort Belknap; brothers, Floyd Gibbs of Newcastle, Allan Gibbs of Gorman and Jerry Gibbs of Burleson; grandsons, Alex Basham and wife, Lacy, of Argyle, Breck Ryan and Alyssa, of Grapevine, and Chandler Ryan and Cason Brock of Graham; and a great-grandchild, Macy Basham.
