Jolene Herring McMillin, 89, of Stephenville, passed on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 in Burleson, Texas. No services are scheduled at this time.

Jolene grew up the 4th of 10 children. Always kind, big loving heart, and willingness to help anyone. Her family was her greatest joy, being a Mama, Granny and Nanny. Always loved their visits and always excited for the next.

She spent most of her time as housewife and mother to five children. She loved to cook and very seldom followed a recipe, always “pinch of this and pinch of that.” She never let anyone leave her home without having a meal and she never met a stranger. Talked with folks like she had known them years. After children were all in school, she became a helper to her husband “Doc” and his business. They later ran a small grocery and gas station, where she made many friends. The small-town cafe was the next adventure for her. Her cooking was excellent, she had folks coming from miles around to enjoy her delicious country cooking. They would be waiting in line to eat. Later she was asked by a family to care for their elderly mother and this was where she really shined. Her heart was really all about loving and caring for people and especially the elderly. She continued this for many years with lots of dear folks. In the last year, she has resided at Oakwood Assisted Living. She enjoyed this as well, she would go visit everyone and check on them. She loved all these folks and the staff. They were good to our Mother and we love and appreciate them all for this. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bingo and cards and going fishing. She had some good fishing stories and folks would still ask her about them from time to time. She loved that and she would fry up her catch of the day for us kids.
